Didn't get into Maria 01? How else to find a cofounder in Finland

Maria 01 in Helsinki is Finland's best-known physical startup campus, but a desk there or an accelerator cohort isn't the only way to meet a cofounder, and it isn't available to everyone (limited space, application cycles, and a Helsinki-centric location rule some people out by geography alone). A public online directory reaches founders and cofounders across every Finnish city, including many who never apply anywhere physical, no application, no cohort, no desk required.

What Maria 01 actually is, and why it has real limits

Maria 01 is Helsinki's flagship startup campus, home to hundreds of startups, most domestic VC funds, and the Friday mixer that's become the closest thing Finland has to a recurring founder meetup. It's a real, well-earned reputation. It also has a fixed number of desks, application and cohort cycles for its programs, and a single physical location in Helsinki, which structurally excludes anyone who doesn't get a desk, doesn't apply, or doesn't live in or near the capital region.

What to do if you're outside that gap

  • Didn't get a desk or missed a cohort:a public profile costs nothing and has no application, no waitlist, and no selection process. Describe what you're looking for and be discoverable immediately.
  • Don't live in Helsinki: see the Oulu, Tampere, and other Finnish city pages, an online directory reaches founders in every city the same way, not just the capital region.
  • Prefer not to apply anywhere:some founders simply don't want a cohort structure, a public directory is a no-commitment way to be found without joining any program.

This isn't either/or

If you do have Helsinki access, Maria 01's in-person density is genuinely hard to replace, nothing here suggests skipping it. The strongest approach for most founders is both: physical events and hubs for the people already inside that network, and a public directory for everyone outside it, including people across the country who would never otherwise cross paths with you.
