Startup Sauna is the student-led startup hub in Otaniemi, and the accelerator programme that used to carry its name was one of Finland's best-known early-stage programmes. Alumni who went through it have a shared experience, but neither the hub nor the programme is a cofounder-matching mechanism. The cofounder search for Startup Sauna alumni usually continues independently after the programme ends.
I went through Startup Sauna and my original team dissolved. What is the best way to find a new cofounder?
Your existing network from the program is your strongest starting point: other alumni who might be between projects, or who can introduce you to someone in the broader ecosystem. After that, a public profile on a directory like this one extends your reach beyond people you already know and lets people searching in parallel find you. Being specific about what you worked on at Startup Sauna and what you are looking for now gives a credible starting point for conversations.
Is the Startup Sauna alumni network useful for cofounder searching if I am not an alumnus?
The alumni network is primarily relationship-based and closed to people who have not gone through the program. However, many Startup Sauna alumni are active in the broader Helsinki startup community through events and communities that are open. Maria 01, Slush, and various Aalto ES events include both alumni and non-alumni.
